NRC GENERIC LETTER (GL) 89-13 " SERVICE WATER SYSTEM PROBLEMS AFFECTING SAFETY.RELATED EQUIPMENT" (TAC NO. 74025)
GenericLetter(GL)B9-13,issuedonJuly 18, 1989, requires two responses from licensees. The first res)onse, due within 180 days of receipt of the GL, is to advise the NRC whether t1e licensee has established a program to implement the recommended actions of the GL. The second response is to inform J
the NRC that all of the recommended actions, or their justified' alternatives.
- I have been implemented. This response is due within 30 days of such implementation.
By letter dated January 25, 1990 Northeast Nuclear Energy Company submitted the first of two required responses to the GL. Noting that you have. committed to each of the five recommended actions of the GL or to an equally effective alternative course of action, we accept your response as fulfilling this -
requirement of the GL, F
We remind you that if you choose a course of action different from the e
recommended actions of the GL, you should document and retain in appropriate plant records the justification that the heat removal requirements of the 7
service water system are satisfied by use of your alternative program.
