7590-01 U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION UNION ELECTRIC COMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMEN 0 MENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission (the Comission) has issued Amendment No. 51 to Facility Operating License No.' NPF-30,' issued to Union Electric Company (the licensee) which revised the Technical Specifications for operation of the Callaway Plant, Unit 1, located in Callaway County, Missouri. The amendment was effective as of the date of its issuance.

The amendment revised the technical specifications to allow continued operation for 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> for' diagnosis and repair, with one or more control rod assemblies inoperable due to a rod control urgent failure alarm or other electrical problem in the rod control system provided all affected control rods remain trippable.

The application for the amendment complies with the standards and L

L requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Comission's rules and regulations. The Comission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter 1, which are set forth in the license amendment.

Notice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendment and Opportunity for Prior Hearing in connection with this action was published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on September 18, 1989 (54 FR 38469). No request for a hearing or petition for-leave to intervene was filed following this notice, n
