SbMMARY OF MONTHLY. PROJECT MEETING FOR JULY l
In conformance with the direction provided in the' June 24, 1981 memorandum from t
'r' D. C. Eisenhut~regarding monthly project meetings, an initial. meeting was held for South Texas on July 20, 1981, with the assigned reviewers.
A list of the attendees is provided in the enclosure. A summary of the meeting is presented
.in tie following. discussion.
The purpose of the monthly project teetings was discussed with the reviewers, l
.i.e., to provide overall project coordination on schedules, technical issues and status, and to identify problem areas at an early stage.
l-The current status for the project was provided.
1.
The Q-1 phase of review has been completed by most brar.ches, except for l
RSB and PSB. Also, the reviewers from CMEB stated that they had not l
completed the Q-1 phase.
2.
An early hearing on construction deficiencies and the QA program started about two months ago. QAB and LQB provided input for a partial SER on management qualifications for use in this hearing.

On August 7,1981, the applicant will meet with SEB in Bethesda to discuss l
the analyses for soil structure interaction.

The epplicant's projected completion date for South Texas, Unit 1 is September 1983. However, there have been indications that the completion date may be i
delayed. For example, in a letter dated July 2,1981, the applicant informed us that it is postponing from June 1981 to June 1983 the submittal of an application for storage of unirradiated reactor fuel and associated matarial.- The applicant is currently reassessing its construction completion date.
If the date is delayed l
by several months or more, then the new review procedures would-be used on South Texas, e.g., one round of questions, followed by a draft SER and a final SER.
The reviewers will be kept informed of any such changes.
