Narrative

Report for LER 50-366/1981-063 On 6-25-81, following maint "ance on clogged motor cooling water line RHR service water pump E11-C001A was tested for operability.

The pump f ailed to meet acceptance criteria for flow and discharge pressure.

Tech Specs section 3.7.1.1.A requires that all pumps in each subsystem-be operable.

An LCO was declared per Unit 2 Tech Specs 3/4.7.1.1 action A.1.

A similar event was reported by LER 50-366/1980-085.

The pump was removed, and upon disassembly a piece of lumber approximately 6"

long' was found lodged in.the -impe11ers.

During the same time period the standby diesel service water pump was declared inop also due to debris, and a hole subse -

quently was found in the traveling water screen.

The source of the lumber found in the RHR service water pump cannot be determined.

The pump was. not damaged, and only routine prev-entive maintenance was performed.

The operability test was conducted, and.the ' pump met acceptance criteria and was returned to service.

There were no effects upon public health and ' safety due. to this event.

No further action or reporting is required.
