Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
South Carolina Electric and Gas Company has reviewed IEB 81-03 and hereby submits the following in response to the concerns therein:
1.
Attachment I to this response is submitted to demonstrate-that'the asiatic clam (Corbicula, sp.) is present in the Monticello Reservoir.
They have been collected as part of the regular environmental monitoring program conducted by Dames and Moore.
2.
We are in the process of conducting an open and inspect program of a representative sample of system components per the provi-sions of IEB.
So far, there is no indications of system infes-tation.
Expected date for completion is Septembcr 1, 1981.
3.
Due to the presence of Corbicula in the reservoir as well as to the potential of flow' blockage from other sources, SCE&G will implement a program of flow. monitoring on safety-related system componer This monitoring program will be supplemented by a program of visual inspection to be conducted per.iodically.
A followup report will be submitted at the conclusion of the inspection program l
and any corrective and preventive actions will be identified as required.
