SUBJECT:
PR] POSED LICENSE TO EXPORT DEUTERIUM TO JAPAN (XMAT0168) t On February 6,1981, Showa Denko America, Inc., filed an application to export 20,000 liters (3.6 kilograms) of deuterium gas to Japan to be resold to companies and universities located in Japan for non-nuclear end uses. The applicant has requested expeditious processing of this export license application as the material is ready for inrnediate shipment and is urgently required by the customer.
The staff has concluded that the proposed export meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and would not be inimical to the c;mmon defense and security of the United States.
In view of the above considerations, the staff issued this license without the normal 15-day waiting period.
