SUMMARY

-Month:

DecemberL1989 Catawba Unit 1. began the month of December shutdown due to the failure of an excore detector.. The unit was placed on line at 0838 on 12/01 following repairs to the detector. During the subsequent power increase, the unit was

. held at 41% power from 1510 on 12/01 until 1900 on 12/02 due to nuclear instrumentation calibration.

Following completion of the N.I. calibration,

the unit was-held'at 41% power until 2245 on 12/02 due to dispatcher request.

The unit reached 100% ful.1 power at 1100 on 12/03, and operated at or near 100% full power for the remainder of the month.
