OF DECEMBER 20, 1989 TECHNICAL MEETING WITH CAROLINA POWER AND LIGHT C0t1PANY General NRC staff met with C6rulina Power & Light Company ((CP&L)

- On December 20, 1989, representatives.to discuss the Technical Specifications Interpretations TSI) that'are being utilized at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2 l

(Brunswick). The meeting was held in Rockville, Maryland; a list of attendees 1

CF&L writes a TSI at Brunswick when the existing Technical Specifications-l (1) are r.ot consistent with the physical or intended design of the plant; (2) do not adequately demonstrate operability or are not sufficiently conservative;

.(3) contain typographical or administrative errars that represent operability 1

or_ surveillance concerns; or-(4) are otherwise uetermined as necessary by the 1

Plant: Nuclear Safety Committee.

The TSI becomes a conpanion document to the e

Technical Specifications.

The TSI is usually cancelled once the associated i

Technical Specifications changes.have been approved by NRC.

The~ staff reviewed all Brunswick TSI's in preparation for the meeting and each i

one was addressed during the meeting.

I The staff is preparing a special report on this subject, and this meeting will add to the content of the report.
