SNM-1879 and SNM-1852 issued on May 21, 1981.
This application for amendment 1) rescinds and supersedes the July 17, 1981 Application for Amendment No. I to NRC Materials License 1
Nos. SNM-1879 and SNM-1852 and provide for use of a continuous fire watch in the fuel handling building until fire detection devices are installed, and 2) adds the cities of Riverside and Anaheim as co-owners of San Onofre Nuclear i
Generating Station, Units 2 and 3.
j In the event of a conflict, the information in this application for Amendment No. 2 to the NRC Materials License Nos. SNM-1879 and SNM-1852 supersedes the information previously submitted.

APPLICATION FOR AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO NRC MATERIALS LICENSE N05. SNM-1979 AND SNM-1852 ISSUED MAY 21, 1981 SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION UNITS 2 AND 3 PROPOSED AMENDMENT I.
Provide for use of a continuous fire watch in the New Fuel Area and Spent Fuel Pool Area as a temporary compensatory measure until the fire detection devices are installed and operating or if the fire detection devices would be temporarily not functioning. Revise the October 27, 1980 Amendment No. 2 to the License Appliction, Subsection 1.2 Storage Conditions, first complete paragraph on page 5, by replacing the last sentence " A more detailed description..." with the following:
A continuous fire watch may be used in the New Fuel Area and Scent Fuel Pool Area as a temporary compensatory measure until the fire detection devices are installed and operating or if fire detection devices are temporarily not functioning. A more detailed description of the fire protection system is provided in the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station, Units 2 and 3 FSAR, Section 9.5.1.
II. All references to " Licensee" in License Nos. SNM-1879 and SNM-1852 shall include the ic110 wing:
Southern Caliternia Edison Company San Diego Gas and Electric Company The City of Riverside, California The City of Anahiem, California BASIS FOR PROPOSED AMENDEMENT NO. 2 I.
Fire detection devices are not yet installed in the New Fuel Area or Spent Fuel Pool Area.
II. The cities of Riverside, California and Anaheim, California have recently been added as co-holders of the construction permits and operating license application for San Onofre Units 2 and 3.
