Dear Mr. Minneman:

Corrective steps for violations and procedures for Ir(suring future compliance were instituted upon receipt of notice of violation. To insure future compliance we have made the technical director directly responsible and accountable for com-pliance with the procedures outlined in the license.

In addition, administrative control has been instituted to insure that required activities are carried out and that adequate records kept and routinely audited.

Specific actions are described below for each violation.

A.

Violation I - Survey o f work area.

(l) Corrective steps:

After each day's work with licenced materials a quallfled Individual surveys the work area.

(2) Corrective steps - future:

A separate record is maintained which contains:

Day sample received, disposition, dates and techniques of analyses, technicians who handle the material, and meter survey results for each day that material is handled.

Entries are Initiated by opeatives aid records audited by the director weekly.

(3) Date of full compliance:

February 26, 1981 Violation II - kbnthly swipes (1) Corrective steps:

Work areas were surveyed February 26, 1981 and have been found to comply.

(2) Corrective steps - future:

Personnel have been designated to condt.ct swipe surveys the first week of each month.

Dates and names of technicians performing swipes will be recorded in the quality control notebook Arrangements are being instituted with Teledyne-Isotopes for evaluation. The.echnical director will supervise these activities and the administrative director will audit records monthly.

(1) Corrective steps:

All personnel have been Instructed about the requirements for handling licensed material. Processing of materials is now carried out under the direct supervistcn of licensed personnel. The technical director is responsible over. all for ccepliance.

(2) Corrective steps - future:

Two additional personnel will undergo the necessary training at Teledyne-Isotopes and wlil ba added to the license. Administrative control has been established to insurs that adequate records are kept.
