RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-13, REV. 2 '

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Your Revision 2 to IE Bulletin 79-13 requested inspection of the feedwater no==le-to-pipe welds, the feedwater piping welds to the first support, the feedwater line to containment penetration welds, and the auxiliary feedwater to main feedwater connection. This inspection was to be done during, the first refueling outage following the initial inspections required by 79-13. For H. B. Robinson, this outage occurred in the fall of 1980.

The above items were radiographed and the required inspections were completed on August 20, 1980. The radiographs revealed no indica-tions of cracking in the welds or base material. Through an oversight, the written report of results was not transmitted as required by Item 6 of the Bulletin. However, the radiographs were inspected by NRC Region II personnel on September 5, 1980, and their results are documented in IE Inspection Report 8n.23. This inspection indicated satisfactory compli-ance with the requirements of 79-13 and the Bulletin was closed. This response, therefore, satisfies all requirements of the Bulletin and no l furthe action regarding the subject is believed necessary.

If you have any questions, please contact my staff.

Yours very truly, J. Furr Vice President FMG/je (7135) Nuclear Operations g/
