Narrative

Report for LER 50-366/1981-048 On 5-27-81, while operating at 99% power 2Cll, control tod scram sccumulator 26-47, was found to be inoperative.

Per Tech Specs section 4.1.3.5.a the inoperable accumulator must be returned to operable status within 8 hours9.259259e-5 days <br />0.00222 hours <br />1.322751e-5 weeks <br />3.044e-6 months <br />.

The plant was placed in an LCO until the accumulatcr could be recharged.

The cause of this event has been attributed to leakage in the 111 instrument block valve of the accumulator.

The accumulat-or was recharged per HNP-2-1425, Precharging CRD Scram Accum-ulators Procedure.

The accumulator was declared operable and returned to service.

Plant operation was not affected as a result o,f this event.

The health and safety of the public were not affected.

This is a repetitive event as last reported on LER 50-366/1981-040.

A generic review revealed no inherent problems.

Unit 1 does utilize this type of accumulator.
