'Mi, Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission Washington, D.C.
20555 Docket Nos. STN 50-482, STN 50-483, and STN 50-486 Ref: NRC ('iedesco) letters to KGE (Koester) and UE (Bryan), both dated March 17, 1981, Review of FSAR Chapter 14
Dear Mr. Denton:
The referenced letters suggested that applicants for operating li.enses should address the NRC's information requests on previously reviewed applications in order to expedite the review of Chapter 14.
The questions and staff positions sent to other applicants were considered during the preparation of the entire SNUPPS FSAR and the Callaway and Wolf Creek FSAR Site Addenda.
However, because of taa SNUPPS appli-cants wish to expedite the NRC safety review, another evaluation of
)
Chapter 14 was conducted.
This detailed evaluation considered each of the questior.s issued to the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station (Docket No. 50-395) that related to FSAR Chapter 14.
The enclosure to this letter summarizes the results of the evaluation.
To a large extent, the information requested of Sumner is included in the SNUPPS FSAR or the Site Addenda.
For these questions, the enclosure refers to the specific FSAR subsection where the information is located.
In a few cases it was determined that addittunal informa-tion was required. The enclosed evaluation results indicate our intent to provide information in a future FSAR Revision.

SLNRC 81-40 Page Two The overall evaluation showed that the FSAR adequately describes the initial test program.. The NRC Staff should be able to use the FSAR, the enclosed e,'aluation, and the FSAR changes that are indicated to complete the review without additional correspondence and with manpower s avings.
Ver truly yours, Nicholas A. Petri RLS/bds/11b22 Enclosure cc:
