Dear Mr. Denton:
In a letter from the NRC staff dated April 30, 1981 South Carolina Electric and Gas Company was requested to perform reviews to identify control systems failures which were not considered in or bounded by the FSAR chapter 15 analysis.
We have interpreted your letter to request reviewe in two areas. The first area of review will look at control systems failures caused by high energy line breaks that could complicate the event beyond the FSAR analyses. The secor.J area of review will identify those control systems whose failure or malfunction could seriously impact safety and justify that the effect of simultaneous malfunctions due to a common power supply failure or a common sensor failure is bounded by the FSAR analysis.
We will provide you with results of these reviews inclading any corrective action to be taken by March 1, 1982.
