Narrative

Report for LER 50-366/1981-027 it was 1100 CST after discussion with the vendor On 4-7-81, at determined tha_ the Unit 2 Tech Specs concerning calculation of the MCPR LCO limit assuming use of the option A scram 1 on page 3/4 2-7a) was nonconservative for

penalty,

(

heaters out of service.

Analysis

=

operation with feedwater to the reload analysis had included oper-perforned subsequentfeedwater heaters and indicated an MCPR linit of ation without reload analysis limit of 1.29 for such 1.31 as opposed to the operation.

The plant was also inforced that the option B MCPR 0 on page 3/4 2-7a), might also be noncon-value of 1.24 (

servative.

It was deemed that this crror was reportabic under

=

section 6.9.1.8.h.

The plant engineering group imacdiately raised the MCPR linit used by the process computer to 1.31, the most conservative limit indicated by analysis until just-ification of the lower values in the Tech Specs could be obtained.

A revicu of plant operating data indicated that at g

no

time, this
cycle, were any thermal limits violated or approached previous to this action.

If the presently ongoing analysis indicates that new. Tech Specs MCPR limits are required a revision will be submitted.

Also the Unit 1 Tech and reload analysis for the upcoming cycle will be Specs reviewed and corrected if needed.
