LER ATTACHMENT - RO #2-81-26 Facility: BSEP Unit No. 2 Event Date: 2-20-81 This event occurred when the 1259-2 analyzer photohelic gauge failed causing the analyzer monitor to indicate a drywell oxygen concentration that was 3*. less than the actual concentration. During the investigation of this event plant Maintenance examined the failed gauge and determined it had failed as a result of excess moisture in the sample flow. As presently designed, these monitors encounter significant moisture in their sample flow due to the design of the piping configuration to the monitors.

Due to a history of sin ilar events involving moisture problems, a plant modification has been developed to replace-these monitors with others of a more reliable design. The sacple piping will also be modified to help remove the moisture problem of the monitored sample.
