Dear Mr. Ippolito:
This is in response to your November 13, 1980 letter which transmitted the final edition of NUREG-0619 "BWR Feedwater Nozzle and Control Rod Drive Return Line Nozzle Cracking." Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) has reviewed this edition of NUREG-0619 as it applies to the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
The CRD return line modifications will be made at the next refueling outage for each unit and this should be consistent with the time schedule established in NUREG-0619. The BSEP-2 feedwater nozzle and sparger modifications are scheduled for the refueling after next. This refuel-ing outage-is currently scheduled for Spring of 1983, and would thus meet your schedule. Operational events or other regulatory requirements may eventually require some slippage of this schedule, but CP&L does commit to complete these modifications during the indicated refueling outages.
