OPERATIONS

SUMMARY

January 1981 At the beginning of the reporting period, the Oyster Creek

-Nuclear Generating Station was operating at 92.6% capacity (6 02 MWe) limited by condensate demineralizer differential pressure and de-clining due to demineralizer conditions.

The ultimate cause of the differential pressure limitation is the inability of the New Radwaste System to process liquid and solid waste as designed'to support regen-eration of the demineralizers.

Load was reduced to 483 MWe on January 11 to remove #7 Con-densate Demineralizer from service for regeneration.

Regeneration was completed and the demineralizer returned to service on January 15.

Load was increased to 623'MWe on January 16 until limited by differ-

_ ential pressure.

The pump was returned to service af ter replacement of the brushes and maintenance on the collector rings.

Load was re-duced on January 20 to remove #6 Condensate Demineralizer from service for regeneration.

The demineralizer was returned to service late on January 23.

After peak-hour on the 23.d, load was reduced to 236%

capacity (230 MWc) for a Control Rod Withdrawal Sequence Interchange and MSIV full closure test.

Full load was reached on Jan0ary 26 and maintained for the remair. der of the month.

On January 30, "C Feed-water Regulating Valve was placed in Local Manual control due to os-cillations in the valve position.

e There were 6 Reportable Occurrences identified during January.
