6.5 2 (Contd) is necessary or desirable, the following methods shall be available:
(a) Holdup to pernit decay of radioactivity.
(b) Renoval of radioactivity by demineralization.
I Liquid radioactive vaste system equipment shall include: Two 5,000-gallon " dirty" receiver tanks, two 5,000-gallon " clean" receiver tanks, two 5,000-gallon vaste hold tanks, one 5,000-gallon chemical receiver tank, radvaste pumps, treated vaste pump, strainer, filter, demineraliser and necessary instru-mentation and controls. Sumps and smaller tanks for laundry dreins, 1sboratory drains and decontanination pit drains shall also be provided.
6.5 3 Solid Radioactive Wastes Spent demineralizer resins will be sluiced to a shielded 10,000-gallon storage tank. An underground solid vaste storage vault shall be provided for other solid radioactive vastes. Disposi-tion, as necessary, of vastes from the storage facility shall be via a licensed contractor.
6.5.h Operating Requirements (a) The annual average stack release rate for fission and activation gases shall not exceed one curie per second. The maximum permissible stack release rate (for periods in excess of fifteen minuter) shall be 10 curies per second.
If the annual average stack release of one curie per second is exceeded for more than a week, steps shall be taken to reduce the release rate to the annual e.verage.
The annual average stack release rate for Iodine-131 and particulate matter with half-lives greater than eight days (expressed in units of microcuries per second) shall not.xceed the permissible air con-centrations for unrestricted areas as given in 10cm3 second.
/
10 CFR 20, multiplied by 1.2 x 10 Iodine and particulate sample filters shall be removed and analyzed at least weekly.
