Thank you for your letter of January 31, 1973, in response to our letter dated Decenber 6,1972, both related to efforts on your part to verify that valves important to nuclear safety have wall thicknesses consistent with applicable codes, standards, and purchase specifications.
Concerning the Palisades Plant, the information contained in your January 31 letter is such that we have no further questions. However, we will review the results of your valve verification program during future site inspections and, based on these results, it may be necessary that we reevaluate the adequacy of the program.
With respect to the Big Rock Point Plant, we are continuing our evaluation of the applicable infornation contained in yor-Ianuary 31 letter.
Specifically, we are not prepared at thi.s time io am. v t a resolution of this matter based on no physical verification (measurement) of valve wall thicknesses. Consequently we request that, in conjunction with our con-tinuing evaluation, you make further reference to our June 29, 1972, letter and reconsider your position relative to valves installed in your Big Rock Point Plant.
