Dear Mr. Denton:
Recently Mr. Bill Kane requested South Carolina Electric and Gas Company previde information regarding Westinghouse topical reports pre-seated in the seismic qualification tests of safety related electrical equipment. Specifically, the information was in regard to items 1 through 5 on page 12 of an 8/26/76 letter from Mr. J. P. Knight to Mr. R. C. DeYourg. A copy of pages 11 and 12 of that letter are attached.
Our responses as follows:

The Virgil C. Su mer Nuclear Station constructi,n permit application was docketed prior to October 1972.
2.
WCAPs 8848(P) aad 8849(NP), 8830(p) and 8831(NP), 8828(P) and 8829(NP) have been completed and formally submitted to the NRC by Westinghouse.
3.
Concur - No action required by SCEEG.
4.
The final version of WCAP 8830(P) addresses the structural "N
O capability of the NIS rack.

ME3 has completed evaluation of this infor=ation. - We find that the retests are acceptable.

CONCLUSIONS /WD REGUI ATORY POSITIONS The Mechar. cal Engineering Branch, Division of Systems Safety has tested completed the seismic audit of Westinghouse electrical equipment prior to May 1974. Eased on our evaluation of topical reports, inspections of equipment on the plant sites, numerous meeting discusaions, laboratory visits, and our evaluation of confirmatory retesting for equipment in question, we conclude that adequate assurance is achieved for these to sustain seissic excitations to their designated SSE levels.
