A routine safety inspection of your annual emergency preparedness exercise was
conducted by Mr. D. Vito and others of this office on November 14-10, 1989 at
the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Plant, Wiscasset, Maine. Discussions of our
findings were presented by Mr. Vito to your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.

Arec examined during this inspection inc'uded observation of the annual
. exercise and follow-up of findings identified during previous emergency
,
prepa:edness inspections and exercises as described.in the NRC Region I
Inspection Repcrt which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selected examination of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel and observation of the emergency exercise

by team members.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations or deviations were

identified.
It was determined that your emergency _ response actions during the
