Generic Letter (GL) 88-14 " Instrument Air Supply System Problems Affecting Safety-Related Equipment" requested each licensee / applicant to review NURFA-1275 Volume 2 and perform a design and operations verification of the instru-nent air supply (of the licensed Nuclear Generating Plant.1) tests establishing instr The verification should include of adequate maintenance practices, emergency procedures and training and (3) verification of the design adequacy of the entire plant air system as it affects safety related components.

By letter dated February 20, 1989 you submitted a response to GL 88-14 for the instrument air system existing at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant Unit Nos. I and 2.

Your submittal indicates that HUREG-1275 Volume 2 has been reviewed and the instrurent air supply system design and operations was verified in accordance with the requirements of GL 88-14. Based on the review of your l

submittal,-we find that you have provided an acceptable response to GL 88-14 This fulfills your requirement in addressing the concerns of this issue and our j

efforts under TAC Nos. 71704 and 71705 are complete. Your efforts in this area may be subject to future inspection at our discretion.
