NOTICE OF VIOLATION

j Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Based on the NRC inspection August 12-15, 1980, certain of your activities were apparently not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below. These items have been categorized as described in correspondence to you dated December 31, 1974.

As required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix "B", Criterion XII, as implemented by PSAR Section 17.1.12, mee.r.ures shall be established to assure that tools, gages, instruments and 9t'er measuring and testing devices used in activi-

ties affecting quality are properly controlled, calibrated, and adjusted at specified periods to maintain accuracy within necessary limits.

Contrary to the above, on August 14, 1980, no measures had been established to assure. that torque wrench multipliers, used in activities affecting quality, are properly controlled and calibrated. On May 9,1980, a torque wrench multiplier was used for assembling RHR pump QlE12C002C-B.

The 2

torque wrench multiplier was checked and was determined to provide approx-imately 12 percent less torque than the _ theoretical resultant multiplied torque. Four other torque wrench multipliers were checked and determined to provide approximately 12 percent less torque than the theoretical resultant multiplied torque.

This is an infraction.
