- To the Director, I protest the environmental ruling on-the Comanche Peak Nucleat Plant in Texas. Three things are obvious.1) The scientists wbc were involved in the decision do not understand what effect the plant will have on the public when h runs safely, not to mention when it does not.
- 2) There is no such thing as a safe level of radiation. This is em arbitrary seyting created by your organization. Any public exposure to radiation, no matter how saali, is dangerous. 3) There is no safe nuclear plant. Three Mile Island proves that safety is simply another arbitrary term, that safety systems break down just as often as other systems,-that what you call safe the public may rather call intolerable.
You say that any danger to the public in Texas will be undetect-able. As undetectable as it was in Pennsylvania when the Three Mile Is-land plant began to operate? Must our children be doomed to suffer, as the children of Pennsylvania are doomed to suffer, at the hands of the electric companies and the goverament, both afraid to admit how dangerous nuclear power really is? Are we to be the guinea pigs AGAIN?
No. Please do not allow the Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant to open.
