Dear Mr. Lewis:
This response is subnitted in accordance with the reqairenents of 10 CFR 2.201:
(1) The Upper draft stripe on the bow and stern of the NS SAVANNAH was painted over inadvertently by the maintenance force when the draft marks on the ships at the facility were being touched up. All of the other vessels only have "one" (1) stripe and the upper stripes on the SAVANNAH were painted over by the maintenance force to cmply with the other vessels in their group of vessels at the North Charleston facility.
(2) The Upper draft stripes were repainted on the SAVANNAH, both fore and aft on the vessel on January 27,198L under the supervision of Mr. M. T. Hathcock, Cbordinator, NS SAVANNAH Support, Global Associates.
Mr. Hathcock has informed the maintenance force of the requirements of the NS SAVANNAH of two (2) draft stripes to assure that this problem will not occur again.
(3) Full cmpliance was achieved on January 27, 1981,under the super-vision of Mr. M. T. Hathcock who has so informed Mr. C. W. Parker of' the Maritime AAministration.
