20553 Attention:

Mr.

R. A. Clark, Chief Operating Reactors Branch 3 Gentlemen:

DOCKET NO. 50-266 STEAM GENERATOR INSPECTIONS POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 1 This is to acknowledge your letter to us dated February 13',

1981 regarding the recent Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Unit 1 steam geaerator tube inspection and our plans for subsequent tube inspec-tions.

We are aware that a portion of the Confirmatory Order for Modification of License dated November 30, 1979 remaina in effect and concur with the specific provisions identified in your February 13 letter.

The next Point Beach Unit 1 steam generator inspection outage is tentatively scheduled for July 1981.

We will at that time, as we have in the past, conduct both a 2,000 psi primary-to-secondary and 800 psi secondary-to-primary hydrostatic test.

In addition, our discussion with your Staff on Decen.ber 24, 1980 included a commitment to perform a support plate flow slot inspection during the next secondary side steam generator inspection.

This support plate flow slot inspection in both steam generators will also be done during the July outage.

The results of the July eddy current inspect on and hydrostatic tests will be submitted to the NRC prior to start-up.

Our plans for a demonstration of tube sleeving have not yet been finalized.

Our present schedule is to install ten to twelve demonstr'ation sleeves in one of the Point Beach Unit 1 stelm generators in July.

We will keep you informed of our program.
