o LER ATTACHMENT - RO # 2-81-21 Facility: BSEP Unit No. 2 Event Date: 4-10-81 This event occurred when suspected resins from the RWCU system accumulated in the reactor vessel due to an RWCU filter breakthrcugh. This resin decomposed at vessel temperature into ionic species that caused the reactor vessel conductivity to exceed specifications. The RWCU system was removed from service in order to eliminate this source of resins. The resins that accumulated in the vessel were allowed to decompose at vessel temperature into harmless, undetectable, non-ionic substances.

In order te prevent future similar events, an RWCU eyr.luation has been initiated to consider all RWCU problems and implement solutions in the form of repairs and/or modifications where needed. Such factors as system valve leakage and precoating applications are currently under investigation. It is believed this action is appropriate and sufficient in response to this event.
