Dear Mr. Ippolito:
Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) is herewith transmitting to NRC five (5) copies of the revised In-Service Inspection and Test Program for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
Also included are five (5) copies of the In-Service Diagrams (ISDs) which identify systems and components in the program. This submittal is made in compliance with 10CFR50.55a(g).
This program has been updated in accordance with the require-ments of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI of the 1977 Edition through the Summer, 1978 Addendum. The program is composed of two sections, as follows:
Section I - Component Inspection Program and Hydrostatic Test Program Section II - Pump and Valve Test Program Section I presents weld, support, and bolting requirements l'or piping and component welds, supports, and bolting within the boundaries of safety-related systems. Also included in Section I is a description of the pressure tests condue.ted on safety-related systems.
Section II preaants the pump and valve test requirements for safety-related pumps and valves. Valve testing requirements for the Standby Gas Treatment System are included in this submittal.

Detailed relief requests from testing or examination as pro-vided for in 10CFR50.55a(g)(5)(iii) are specifically identified in each section of the program.
The updated In-Service Inspection and Test Program will be applicable for a new 120-month ir.terval beginning July 1, 1981. As required additions or changes are identified, we will present the necessary information to you.
