Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Environmental Qualification of Electrical Equ!pment We have received your letter dated August 29, 1980 concerning the env ironmental qualification of safety related electrical equipment.
JCP&L is currently evaluating the qualifications of electrical equipment exposed to a harsh environment, inside or outside containment, resulting from a high energy line break accident.
In our letter to you dated May 7,1980 we stated that JCP&L would submit by September 1980 the list of electrical equipment as required by the env i ronm en tal qualification program with either references to qualification reports, technical justification for continued use of existing components using plant specitic conditions, probab il istic considerations and more realistic assumptions, or a schedule of testing and/or replacing.
Our June 10, 1980 letter to D. G. Eisenhut stated that the qualification of safety related mechanical equipment for post accident radiation exposures, as required by NUREG 0578, would be submitted concurrent with our electrical equipment qualification submittal.
We are still in the process of rev iewing the qual if ications of electrical and mechanical equipment and will submit all information to support a saf ety eval uation of the aforementioned equipment as soon as possible but no later th.in November 1, 1980. Your staf f has been informed of this delay of our September, 1980 submittal date.
