As defined by Technical Specifications for Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Station, the following information involving an unsatisfactory test of one of fcur main steam isolation valves is reported as Abnormal Occurrence 73-13.
In accordance with Section 4.9 of the CY Technical Specif-ications the main steam isolation valves are tested each week for movement of the valve disc through a distance of approximately one and one-half inches. Upon actuation of the test switch for the #2 main steam isolation valve, no valve movement was noted. The valve operated normally when the test switch was actuated the third time.
The other three main steam isolation valves were tested satisfact-orily. The packing gland on the #2 main steam isolation valve was subsequently readjusted followed by a successful test of the valve.
All four main team isolation valves were subsequently repacked and successfully rt Lesteo ecember 30, 1973. With the continuation of the required weekly valve movement test, it is not anticipated that this situation will reoccur.
Very truly yours, j
