Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 RHR System Operation
Dear Mr. Denton:
As a result of questions from the Reactor Systems Branch, SCE&G has conducted a review of the FSAR response to question 211.49.
Preliminary results indicate removal of power from the RHR suction valves is not required. This preliminary conclusion is based upon the.act that the maximum flood level will not reach any exposed electrical connections in the valve operators.
Further detailed review is in progress to confirm this preliminary conclu-sion, Final confirmation that power removal from the valves is not required will be completed within the next several weeks.
If this preliminary conclusion is confirmed, then administrative controls uill be deleted and the FSAR will be revised to reflect this change.
If this preliminary conclusion is not confirmed, necessary changes will be incorporated'-
to resolve the concern without requiring an operator to leave the control room to initiate the RHR system.
I These changes, if required, will be completed by the end of the first re-fueling outage.
