DESCRIPTICN OF EVENT:

With the unit at 100% power, it was found by observation of mechanics working in the area that snubber 2-WFPD-HSS-18 had a bent rod-eye. 'Ihis is contrary to Technical Specification 3.20.A and is reportable per 'Ibchnical Speci-fication 6.6.2.b. (2).

PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES AND STMUS T REDUNDANr.IYSTEm:

A snubber is a shock suppressor which is designed to prev ni damage to a pipe in the case of a seismic event or other shock.to the pipe. Dur W the period that the snubber's rod-eye was bent, there were no events that resulted in pipe damage. Therefore, the health and safety of thepublic were not affected.

CAUSE

The rod-eye was deformed due to the hywg alignment of the pipe clamp to the snubber.

IMMEDIATE 03RuunVE ACTION:

The imudiate corrective action was to have the condition of the snubber evalu2+4d by Engineering. The snubber was then declared inoperable.

5.

SUBSEQUENT COxxu;nVE ACTION:

The subsequent corrective action was to replace the inoperable snubber with a new snubber and properly align the pipe clamp.
