~On July 1, 1980, a' verbal" report was made to Region 1, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr. McGaughy, advising of-a. potential significant item.
The item.is Unit One's biological shield. supplied by PX Engineering Company.
-It was. reported that documentation (quality verification) for the lower subassembly:was found lacking-for inspection and NDE
.of-several welds.
The suspect welds may contain defects which could have gone undetected.
l The followingtsupplemental information is hereby submitted pursuant to our: initial report and in accordance with the require-ments of 10CFR50.55(e).
The Bechtel. Power Corporat'on, PSE&G's Architect Engineer, is currently conducting an investigation of documentation and effecting reexamination where appropriate.
The. determination of. corrective action necessary to resolve the-deficiencies. determined 'and to. access reportability in accordance.
with 10CFR50.55(e) is scheduledfor completion September 12, 1980, at'which; time a' report will be made to the NRC.
