TOLEDO EDISON Docket No. 50-346 AcHAno P. CAOUSE vc. rmes License No. NPF-3 hx=-

M191259-5221 Serial No. 647 September 5,1980 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention.

Mr. Robert W. Reid, Chief Operatirg Reactors Branch No. 4 Division of Licensing United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

20555

Dear Mr. Reid:

On December 22, 19' Edison requested a revision to License Condition 2C(3)h that would

.ne completion schedule of current fire protection modifications at. the. Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 from April 22, 1980, unt.il September 30, 1980. This delay was based on revised estimates of work scopes and manpower limitations to support these modifications.

On April 22, 1980, Facility Operating License Amendment No. 24 was issued ex-tending the required completion date until heat-up following the current re-fueling outage. Related NRC correspondence of April 29, 1980, identified any further delay would be subject to Toledo Edison providing additional information for staff review before the end of our current outage. This was provided on i

July 1, 1980.

This letter provides an update of the current status of fire protection upgrades at Davis-Besse.

Very truly yours, sd=
