10CFR21 ITEM NO. 1 UNT' HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION Public Service Electric and Gas Company has been informad by Bechtel Power Corporation, our Architect-Engin'eer, that they have reported a 10CFR21 item to the Nuclear Regulatory,Comr:1ucion on July 23, 1980.
The reported item. concerns an Epoxy Surfacer System consisting of NC-30 Cono/ Weld, NC-40 Fibre / Crete and NC-50 Cono/ Glaze manufactured by Con /
Chem, Inc. of Hawthorne, Callicrnia.
Techtel reports that the qualification of the coating system is indeterathable due to conflicting data in qualification test reports and that Anformation 9xists that indicates qualification test data supplied,by,fC6n/ Chem were not supported by actual test results.

Investigation is continuing and should it be determined that the coating does not meet project requirements, appropriate corrective action will be taken.
