located in Mount V6rnon, Indiana, relative to construction activities

The ~ area examined during the inspection was your audit of the Babcock and

Wilcox plant. Within this area, the inspection consisted of an ar==ina-

tion of the procedures and techniques used by Mr. Birkle during the audit,

observations by the inspector, and an interview with Mr. Birkle at the

conclusion of the inspection.

No violations of AEC requirements were identified within the area

examined during this inspection.

By way of this letter, we wish to confirm our understanding that you

plan to continue UT examination of discontinuities detected earlier

in the Unit No. 2 reactor pressure vessel to establish their exact

i

size and acceptability in relation to the applicable code. We will

examine your actions relative to this matter during our ncxt routine

inspection.

A copy of our report of this inspection is enclosed and, in accordance

,

with Section-2.790 of the AEC's " Rules of Practice", Part 2, Title 10,

Code of Pederal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed

inspection report will be placed in the AEC's Public Document Room.
