CONTROL ROOM DESIGN REVIEW The staff is in the process of scheduling a Perry site visit for the control room design review. The criteria for determining whether Perry is ready for this review are attached. He request that you review these criteria and furnish us with an approximate estimate of when the control rcia at Perry will be sufficiently complete for the visit. Overall CR construction and checkout is 85 to 90 percent complete, except that installation and checkout of ESF system controls and dis-plays are 100 percent complete.

At least 80' percent of all systems, (including 100 percent of ESF syste:is) have been turned over to the operating staff.

1 f onnal and emergency lighting systems are operational.

Air conditioning and ventilation system is operational.

Centrol beards and display panel installation is approximately 100 percent complete with essentially no holes in panels due to missin; chassis or components and with power to illuminate controls and dis-plays.

Emergency operating proc.edures (EOPs) are complete to permit a H. F.

evaluation of the E0P using trained and-licensed operators.

7.

Applicant should have available as a minimum, of 3 (three) license:

operators to assist f;RC during the CRDR.

8.

All annunciators should be operational to pemit evaluation of and sequential operation, readibility of alarm windows, and measure-ment of all individual alam sound levels.

9.

Remote shutdown panel should be 80 to 90 percent complete and available for Human factors review.

Incore thermocouple displays and subcooling monitor displays should be available for flRC review in the con ol room, 11.

Applicant's preliminary control room assessment must be submitted tc the fiRC at least one month prior to our visit.

Emergency operating procedures (EOPs) must be submitted to the I;F.C

-(PTRB) at least six (6) weeks crior to our visit. This schedule r.st be c.et to permit joint HFEB/FTRB review of E0Ps. Failure to meet
