OPERATIONS

SUMMARY

Fort Calhoun Station =aintained approximately 75% power during the

=onth of December, 1980.

Revised shift schedules were issued for 1981 for implementation in early January.

All normal surveillance testing and operational testing was completed as scheduled.

PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS LER Number Deficiency LER 10-029 While perfor=ing routine preventive maintenance tasks on the SI-3C (containment spray pu=p) motor, it is discovered that the outboard motor bearing was severely degraded and the rotor shaft, at the outboard end of the motor, was somewhat scored.

At the time of the incident, the remaining two containment spray pu=ps, SI-3A and SI-33, were operable and available as was the redundant post DBA heat removal system - the containment air recirculation, cooling and iodine removal system.
