O APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company Docket No. 50-309 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted August 25 through August 29, 1980, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in full compliance with conditions of your NRC Facility License No. DPR-36 as indicated below.
10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion XII states in part:
... i ns truments...a ffecting quality are properly controlled, calibrated, and adjusted..." Criterion VI states in part:
" Measures shall be established to control the issuance of documents, such as.... drawings... These measures shall assure that documents...are reviewed for adequacy and approved for release..."
Contrary to the above, the safety-related instruments had not been calibrated, and the documents were not reviewed nor approved prior to initial use in that:

The following gauges had not been calibrated:
Cardox System Level and Pressure Gauges Fire Protection System Diesel Fire Pump Fuel Oil Tank Level Gauge 2.
The conversion charts and gra3hs used by control room operators for the Diesel Generator Fuel Oil Tanc Level Indications were not reviewed nor approved.
This item of noncompliance is an infraction.
