We have reviewed your responses by letters dated June 26 (GQL 080'), July 13 (GQL 0883), August 17,1979 (GQL 1048) and June 2,1980 to our IE Bulletin 79-13 on feedwater pipe cracks as related to Three Mile Island !iir.10ar Power Station, Unit No. 1 (TMI-1). Based on this review, we have concluded that it is highly unlikely that your facility will experience feedwater pipe cracks similar to those observed at other facilities. Therefore, the augment inspec-tions as required under I&E Bulletin 79-13 and 79-13(2) may be discontinued.

I However, the elimination of the augnented inspection program does not relieve l

you of the inspections recuired under the ASME Code Section II for Class 2 components for the amergen:y feedwater system.

Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation Report concerning this matter.
