On October 15, 1980, while at steady state operation at 2203 fMt, quarterly calibration of Main Steam Line Pressure Switch, 2821-N0160, was being done, the switch actuated at 315 psig.

Tech Specs Table 3.3.2-2 requires actuation at 825 psig +15 psig head correction.

Redundant switches, 2821-N015 A, C and D were operable and in tolerance.

Plant operation or public health and safety was not affected by this event.

This is a non-repetitive event.

The cause of this event has been attributed to setpoint drift.

The switch, Barksdale Model B2T, was immediately recalibrated per HNP-2-5279, Barksdale Pressure Switch Calibration, and functionally tested successfully as per HUP-2-3105, Main Stean Line Pressure Instrument Functional Test and Cali-bration.

No further reporting-is required.

Unit I uses the same type switch for this application.

A generic review revealed no inherent problems.
