Subject:

Dresden Station Unit 1 Well Water Monitoring in Radwaste Area NRC Docket No. 50-10

Dear Mr. Keppler:

On July 14, 1975 at a meeting between your staff and re-presentatives of Commonwealth Edison Company, it was agreed that a well would be installed at Dresden Unit 1 radwaste area to monitor water table levels and radioactivity concentrations.

All data on the ground water table indicate it to be above the level of the vaults at Dresden Unit 1 radwaste and above the level of the Dresden pool at the Dresden lock and dam.

No further information is to be gained by this monitoring and the bi-weekly water level monitoring is being terminated.

Some radionuclides, indicative of surface contamination, have been reported by the radioactivity monitoring program.

This program will be evaluated in the fall to determine whether additional data would be meaningful.

Very truly yours,

/
