Dear Mr. Ecppler:
This evaluation of the Dresden U-3 Inservice Inspection Progran (ISI) is subnitted as required by Table 6.6.1 of the Technical Specifications.
At the tine the ISI Progran was written for Unit 3 them were no code standanis for developing an inservice inspection progran.
The requirement for evaluating the Station 's ISI Progrr was devised, therefore, to cenpare it with technology and philosopPcf that would be present after five years of operation.
It was a nethod of naking the Station's ISI Progran concur with existing technology.
g In the interin the ASE conr.ittee has added section XI, which outlines a progran to be used for ISI, to the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
The Station has adopted the ASE Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code 1971 edition Su.nor Addenda as a guide. Also according to a revision to 10CF250 55a, the ISI Progran has to be updated every LO nonths to confom with the edition and addenda of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code which is in effect no nore than 6 nonths prior to the start of each h0 month inte.wal. As a result the Station's ISI Program will always be in compliance with the existing code and technology.
