UNIT SHUTDOWN AND POWER REDUCTIONS 50-339 DOCKET NO.

EXPLANATION SHEET REPORT MONTH September UNIT NAME N. Anna 2 YEAR 1980 DATE 10-27-80 COMPLETED BY A. G. Neufer (703) 894-5151 80-05 A While in the process of cleaning a condensate pump suction strainer one of the strainer valves was not fully shut due to debris under the valve seat. This caused a low vacuum' condition tripping the turbine resulting in a reactor trip.

80-06 A While in new plant start-up condition, much rust and particulate is washing from secondary piping and accumulating in start-up condensate pump suction strainers.

80-08 9 Reactor not shutdown. Turbine removed from service for maintenance.

Unit 2 continues with start-up power testing with commercial operations scheduled for late flovember.
