Gentlemen:
This refers to your request dated May 8,1961 for AEC authorization to make Proposed Change No. 7 in your facility pursuant to paragraph 3.A. of License No. DPR-3, as amended.
We have reviewed the proposed modification of the facility and have found that installation of the control circuitry necessary to initiate a trip of the boiler feed pumps in the event of a reactor scram above.
15 MW electric as described does not present significant hazards con-siderations not described or implicit in the license application as amended to Janua.ry 12, 1961, and there is reasonable assurance that the health and safety of the public will not be endangered by oper-ation of the facility as proposed.
A copy of our analysis of the operation of the facility with the modification described is attached hereto.
In view of the foregoing, authorization is hereby granted to Yankee Atomic Electric Company to install the control circuitry necessary to initiate a trip of the boiler feed pumps in the event of a reactor scram above 15 MW electric in accordance with Yankee's Proposed Change No. 7, dated May 8,1961.
