Your letter dated March 3, 1976, provided the results of your evaluation of the planned modifications to the Yard Crane System in comparison with the positions given in our " Branch Technical Position APCSB 9-1 Overhead Handling Systems for Nuclear Power Plants". Your submittal was part of your evaluation of postulated spent fuel slipping cask drop accidents at Yankee-Rowe.
From our review of your March 3,1976, submittal we find we need the additional information identified in the attachment to this letter to continua our review.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION (YAhTEE-ROWE)
DOCKET NO. 50-29 1.
Clarify your discussion on main hoist motor sizing with respect to removing the main hoist motor for the 100-ton capacity and replacing it with a smaller motor.
Show that the new motor will be sized for the 50-ton Design Rated Load (DRL) in accordance with applicable sections of APCSB 9-1, 2.
Provide a discussion on the limit centrols which will prevent the crane from passing over stored fuel while carrying the spent fuel cask.
Include the number, type, and location of controls, as well as information on any of the administrative controls which may be required.
