CONTROL ROD DRIVE SYSTEM ISOLA-TION Attached are three (3) original, and thirty-seven (37) copies of a request to change the Big Rock Point Technical Specifications. The enclosed change modifies the descriptive wording in the Technical Specifications to reflect a change in control rod drive system isolation boundary.
Tne requested change is required to make the 3.ig Rock Point Technical Specifica-tions accurately reflect the new isolation boundary provided by two check valves on the suction side of the control rod drive pumps. The addition of the check valves vill provide a more reliable isolation boundary. The cocpletion of the check valve modificativn villoccur during the 1980 refueling outage, scheduled to commence October 31, 1980 and to terminate on December 15, 1980. Therefore,
approval-of this change vill be required during this period so that plant start-up may be accomplished with appropciate Technical Specifications.
This change has oeen determined to be a Class II change pursuant t21CCFR 170.22; a check in the amount of $1,200 is attached.
It should be noted that our sub-mittal dated October 10, 1980 regarding staff questions on Appendix J criteria identified the addition of the two check valves.
