Reference (rt) contained revisions to our Fire Razards Analysic vhich described a chance to our previously-submitted annroach to nrotection of safe shutdown eauipnent inside containment.

In addition to the use of existine fire nrotection features, characteristics and equinnent our annrnch included the fo11 ovine modifications:

1) Addition of a reactor coolant pump motor lube oil collection system.

P) Fire detection in cable trays in the electrical nenetration areas and in reactor coolant prin hay areas.

3) Covering all exposed cable and trays with two annlications of Flanenastic fire resistant naterial.

h) Where redundant safe shutdown racevavs are located within 10 feet of each other and are not separated by nhysical barriers, we are reroutine the racevay(s) or providine a physical barrier of

?'arinite board. This apnroach was based unon (a) our own design and testinr procrams, (b) the latest, thouch not final, RC criteria (Draft 10CFR50 Annendix R and the Calvert Clif fs Gafety Evaluation Report); and (c) comunications, both romal and informal, with !aC staff. Althourh we did not receive a resnonse to reference (a), we continued with design and procurenent in prepara-tion for the Unit I refueling outare (which beran October 17).
