Subject: Inspection 50-289/80-05

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. G. Napuda of this office on

February 27-29, 1980 at the General Pubile Utilities Corporate Offices in

Parsippany, New Jersey of activities authorized by NRC License No. DPR-50 and to

the discussions of our findi.ngs held by Mr. Napuda with Messrs. D. Croneberger,

N. Kazanas and other- members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Office of Inspecti,on

and Enforcement Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter.

Within

. these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures

and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the

'

inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection,.no items of noncompliance were observed.

'

However, one activity appears to be a deviation from comitments made with.

'

respect to the restart of Unit 1. 'This Item of Deviation is discussed in the

enclosed inspection report.

In your. reply, please include your coments con-

cerning this item, a description of any steps that have been or will be taken to

prevent recurrence, and the date all corrective actions or preventive measures

were or will be completed.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title

10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosures will

be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

that you make a written application within 20 days to this office to withhold
